There are so many guides and resources online about the Keto Diet, but I know all too well that it can be completely overwhelming.

It requires your diet to include 70-80% of high fats, 20-25% of adequate protein and 5-10% of low carbohydrates.
From this, you’ll achieve nutritional ketosis.

What on earth is nutritional Ketosis?!
Ketosis is when your body stops converting glucose in the body to energy, and instead turns to alternative resources, A.K.A. your fat stores.
This creates Ketones in your blood, which are then utilised by cells to power your body.
So by reducing your sugar and carb intake we naturally switch to burning fat for energy. Which means we can also eat more of those essential healthy fats (often found it delicious foods!!)
This is exactly what makes you lose any unwanted weight…fast.

The Pros and Cons of the Keto Diet
I have talked about the Keto Diet before, comparing it to the Atkins Diet.

Keeps your blood sugar low – Those blood sugar levels stay nice and low, a really important factor for those who are trying to lose weight. A lack of sugar spikes means you stay more balanced in terms of hunger.
Improves exercise performance – It can really improve performance results. There is a reason why bodybuilders and athletes go on the keto diet before a big date.
Enhanced Mental Performance – Once you have transitioned and got uses to these stages of Ketosis, many people claim a higher state of alert, better mood and mental performance.
The negatives of the Keto Diet:
It takes a lot of monitoring – Making sure you stick to those percentages isn’t a walk in the park.
It can feel restrictive – It was hard for me to cut out bread and pasta, but I soon found creative alternatives, this is a short-term negative that you just need to push past.
You might get Keto Flu – it’s the name given to the withdrawal symptoms your body will experience when you cut out glucose and carbs. Headaches, body aches, low motivation, mental fog etc. This is also a short-term negative too.
