Is Beach Body on Demand worth it? My honest review
Beach Body on Demand makes high intensity workouts available for everybody; using laptops, phone, tablets…you name it. It has been tried and tested by yours truly, so, what do I think of it and do I think it is worth it?
I just want to begin this by explaining my motives behind any review I post.
I think it is so important to give people an accurate honest review, from real life people, about anything – but especially weight loss. Because let’s face it, how useful is a sponsored review from somebody who already has abs of steel anyway?
I have been using Beach Body on Demand for a few months now, and I am genuinely seeing a big difference already.
I thought now would be a good time to give my honest opinion on the matter, which might help you in deciding whether or not it is for you.
At the end of the day, when you’re searching for a fitness program, you’re searching for one that will be the most compatible for your needs, goals and lifestyle.
I don’t want to jinx anything, but I think Beach Body on Demand might just be for you, here’s why.
You’re probably wondering; “who are you and why should I trust you?”
Well, I’m a mother of two wonderful girls, a lover of all things fried and you’ll probably find me in joggers and sporting a messy bun.
Recently, after working out a better schedule with my girls, I have wanted to start looking after myself a bit better, and not be so disgruntled by my own reflection.
I found it extremely hard to bounce back after my pregnancies, especially after baby number two. Though, I am so grateful for my daughters, what they did to my body…not so much.
My mommy belly is a harsh yet beautiful reminder of what I endured and what I achieved.
I have been on a quest to find easy ways to not only lose weight, but tone my body and help me get my post-baby body back (or as close as possible to it).
Fatsense started so I could share my experience, and help others with their postpartum body, which more often or not centres around getting that mummy tummy back in shape.
Here’s the thing, I don’t have much time in the day now. I work, I’m a wife and I’m a mum. The time in the day truly does escape me.
I need effective and convenient exercise plans.
Workouts that don’t require 3 hours in a gym. Diets that can easily be maintained around hectic schedules.
I have tried many different ways to lose weight and get fit again, some work, some don’t – mainly because I haven’t had the self-discipline to carry it on.

Anyway, this brings me to Beach Body on Demand.
My friend recommended it to me, telling me that it was easy to keep on track with, and actually made a difference. I am always quite pessimistic with these types of services, but I have to admit, I am impressed.
In my opinion – a dream service to help restore that postpartum fitness regime!
Without further ado – let’s dive into the Beachbody on Demand review.
Why do you need it?
If you’re anything, even remotely, similar to me – you need to give Beachbody on Demand a try.
It has such an extensive library of professionally created workouts, you will always find one that will work for you.
These include the top workouts:
P90, P90X, Insanity, FOCUS T25, CIZE, Beachbody Yoga Studio, Active Maternity and Turbo Jam.
Some of these you might have heard of before, I know I had.
This variety in programs is the main thing that appealed to me.
It doesn’t matter if you’re planning on losing weight, toning your body or bulking your body, Beachbody on Demand will have something for you.
I can’t review every single program (although, if you want that I will absolutely try), but I will promise you that they will completely exceed your expectations, like they did mine.
I have followed Shaun T’s Insanity workout before and it is without a doubt one of the BEST workout plans around! Such enthusiastic energy and motivation!
Insanity is just one small part though, this service is rammed full of top quality workouts for women, and men alike (you don’t have to have a mommy belly).
My goals are ultimately to lose weight and tone my body, being able to choose the workout that I want, knowing what I will achieve from it, and be able to compare it to other workouts, is brilliant for me.
This also means that I can grow with Beachbody.
This entire app makes it possible to adapt and change my fitness goals over time. Which is such a great thing.
First impressions of Beachbody on Demand
I instantly loved how easy it was to get the app – I downloaded the IOS app, but you can use it on Fire TV, Chromecast and Roku Players.
The website is easy to understand (I’m not the best with technology), and the app was even easier to use.
I was unsure about it being on my phone initially; maybe the screen will be too small, what if I get distracted by my notifications or a phone call comes through?
But honestly, it wasn’t a problem.
During the hot weather I was even able to exercise outside, I once even did a yoga workout in the park with my friend – all made possible with the app.
All the videos are super high quality and there’s instant streaming.
Basically, as soon as I get a slight bit of motivation or time to workout, I instantly open the app and there’s a program waiting for me, no hassle, no queue, no traveling. Perfect.
A fitness service that allows me to melt away that belly fat in the most convenient moments.
I also really loved how I could customize my schedule, there’s guides, plans and a progress tracker – which let me know where I was doing well, what I was doing well and how I could improve. So far so good.
You can tell that they have put so much thought and effort into the app, it’s actually not only useful but it’s fun to use too.
The diversity of Beachbody on Demand
I feel like I need this to be an entire point in itself – the most appealing thing for me was the diversity of the programmes.
Beachbody on Demand allowed me to try so many different types of exercises, build my own schedule and create custom programs – something which I hadn’t seen before with an app.
As I got more into using the app, I found out (through the help of my friend) that you can create hybrid workout programmes, and customize your own fitness schedules. This is something that really helped me.
When you have over 700 workout videos, just imagine the workouts that you can have.
As well as having the privilege of working out with (virtual) Tony Horton, Charlene Johnson, Sagi Kalen and Shaun T who, by the way, are the biggest motivators out there, you will find something for you that just makes this app so worthwhile.
I have used many fitness programmes – often they are just one guru. Some of which are amazing. Beachbody on demand gives you loads of gurus in one place – I still can’t get my head around that value!
Is Beachbody on Demand expensive?
You’re probably wondering “how much is Beachbody on Demand?”
This is an important factor, I know that not everybody can or wants to spend money on these types of things. Obviously, I think it is worth it but you have to make that call yourself.
Beachbody on Demand offers a 30-day free trial, so if it really isn’t for you, you don’t have to carry on with it.
If you are happy after the 30 days, you will pay roughly $99 for a 12-month membership.
This membership will automatically update every year, again adding to that ”no hassle” benefit that I have mentioned earlier. Do not worry – you can cancel whenever you want too, with no obligation.
This cost gives you access to all exercise programmes, including the latest ones and any future ones. It also gives you meal plans, workout calendars and fitness guides.
In short, the money you pay gives you access to all the top fitness workouts, programmes, plans but also the freedom to workout wherever and whenever you want.
When you consider that against gym membership costs, you are saving so much money, for something which can actually be more beneficial for you.
Does Beachbody on Demand work?
For me, it absolutely did.
I would actually get excited about using it. I never stopped talking about it to my friends.
A few signed up too and we realized we all have different needs and fitness requirements.
Not all of us need to shed the mummy tummy, some are already lean and toned and just want another form of getting straight into a workout.
I also once didn’t have any access to internet at one point (I know, tragic) but it wasn’t an issue – when you download the workout, they are available there for you to access at any time. Offline fitness workouts – Great when travelling!
Don’t forget you can also use Beachbody on Demand on Apple TV and Fire TV too, making it accessible for everybody.
Personally, I have seen so much difference, not only with the way I look but also with how much energy I have now.
I’ve lost weight, I look more toned and I feel physically better. I never thought that I would be able to wake up in the morning, workout and then tackle all my other duties, but that is now my reality.
The mommy tummy is still there – maybe always will be, but its reduced, and more significantly I FEEL great – motivated, happy, buzzing.
Meal plans – I didn’t follow too strictly – for the last few years I have been trying to eat cleanly anyway. So I supplement eating whole foods with the top workout plans via beachbody on demand.
I also don’t feel guilty if I miss a workout, have a cheat day or just don’t hit my goals.
The app motivates me, but doesn’t guilt-trip me in any way. I mix up my workouts.
Little tip – Don’t repetitively do the same workout. Do not let your body get used to the same system as it will adjust and see less benefit. Vary the intensity and exercise types so you get maximum benefit.
For my lifestyle and requirements, Beachbody on Demand really works for me. It has worked for a number of my friends and family members too.

Frequently asked questions
There are certain little things which I noticed and really like throughout. I thought that I would mention them, just in case they were something you were thinking about.
- Does it have different languages? Yes, from what I can find the app is available in English and Spanish. I can only assume that other languages are probably available. It’s also available in the UK, US and Canada – this might be something you’re wondering about.
- Will my phone support it? Although I downloaded Beachbody on Demand for IOS, it is also available for Android. Don’t forget that it is also supported on Fire TV, Chromecast, Apple TV, Roku, on your PC, laptop and tablet. You can set up your own little workout room, just by using your tv or computer.
Also, you can play the videos on multiple devices. Use your phone in the morning and your computer in the evening, the choice is all yours.
- Can you swap workouts? Yes, don’t worry, I have done this so many times. I have once started a workout which just, basically, wasn’t right for me. I’ve started workouts that I just haven’t felt like doing. You can swap your workout throughout. This adds just even more freedom to your exercise routine.
- Will I be motivated? Well, take it from somebody who has had a problem with being motivated in the past. I found Beachbody on Demand easy to stay disciplined and motivated. Beachbody on Demand also helps to choose your next programme; you can contact your Team Beachbody Coach. I also found that the progress tracker was super motivating as it showed me my results and made me just keep on trying to go up.
- Can you use subtitles? Absolutely, there have been a few times that I have used the subtitles (always when my daughters are sleeping). It does make it a little bit harder, but it is obviously a super useful little addition to have. Inclusivity is key.
- Can I use it with my Apple Watch? You absolutely can, which I find amazing, and it will completely elevate your exercises. With the Apple Watch you can track all your programs and workouts, you don’t even need a video to be playing to track your heart rate and calorie data. Beachbody on Demand have also hinted that they will be pushing out other updates with the Apple Watch which is exciting.
- Are there system requirements? Obviously having fast internet is a plus (but remember you can download them and access them anywhere). PCs and Macs must have the latest version of Adobe Flash Installed. Your iPhone must have IOS 7.1.2 or newer, your Android phone must have 4.3 or newer installed. The download was super-fast and easy, I don’t think you will have any issues.
- Are there any other benefits? There are indeed. When you subscribe, you get 10% discount on all things Beachbody and T-shirts can still be earned. Looks like there’s even more benefits to being beach body ready.
What is Beachbody?
You might not have heard about Beachbody, so it is understandable that you might be wary about giving them your money, or just wondering how credible they are.
Believe it or not, they’ve actually been around since 1998 – they began their business with one mission: to have people achieve their health goals.
Since then, they have constantly offered solutions to help people, like you and me, to combine nutrition with exercise and (the very important) support.
They completely understand that everybody is different. Beachbody on Demand would literally cater to anybody – mums and body builders alike.
Just because they have been in the game for so long, they’ve really mastered the best way to achieve your fitness goals.
With easy to follow programmes that provide you with easy-to-follow nutrition guides and exercises, they don’t just throw loads of stuff at you and expect you to work it out. This was something that I really needed – I didn’t know where to begin and felt so lost.
Beachbody really helped me with this.
How did I get started with Beachbody on Demand?
Start with the Beginner Workout Programmes. Evaluate and if it isn’t enough for you move up to the next level.
I had the likes of Tony Horton on my screen, treating me with some low impact moves. Surprisingly, it also came with an e-book of recipes, which were super.
I also had to begin with a “clean week” which really got me into the swing of things. Megan Davies talked me through this, in the comfort of my own living room, giving me basic tips that I’ll probably stick to for the rest of my life.
One of my favourites though, was probably the YOUv2; it was dancing…but I really got a sweat on. Not to mention I’m a sucker for 80s music.
As I’ve become more comfortable, I’m slowly but surely advancing to more difficult workouts, and really enjoying it.
So, to briefly sum up all my points, Beachbody on Demand is an online streaming service which provides you with, in my opinion, some of the best fitness workouts you could ask for.
The price is a steal and it comes with a diverse variety of different videos to suit your goals, skills and lifestyles. They also provide meal plans, progress trackers and calendars.
Beachbody on Demand is available on all major devices, you can alternate which device you use, and pick and choose your own workouts.
I’ve already seen a big difference in myself after just a few months, not just physically, which I initially thought was my issue, but emotionally and my energy levels have rocketed.
