Child Obesity: Why Have Our Children Become So Big? |
|
Child obesity in America rates are through the roof, the same as for adults. Our beloved country has a gross addiction to horribly poor food choices and the results are showing clearly in obesity statistics, Here are a few of the many statistical examples available from the Center for disease Control and Prevention:
- Over 60% of all Americans measure 25 or above of the Body Mass Index scale. From 25 to 30 is considered overweight;
- Over 30% of all Americans measure 30 or more on the BMI scale. 30 and up is considered to be obese;
- There are 3.8 million Americans that are over 300 pounds;
- There are more than 400,000 Americans that weigh 400 pounds or more;
- The average American lady now weighs a whopping 163 pounds;
Fast food and obesity;
- It is known that almost 1/3 of all American children between the ages of 4 and 19 eat fast food on a daily basis;
- The amount of fast food eaten in America has increased more than 500% since 1970;
- No matter how well it’s marketed, fast foods contain toxic amounts of:
- Trans fats;
- Saturated fats;
- Sugar;
- Sodium;
- Preservatives;
- Bleaching agents;
- Steroids;
- Pesticides;
- Herbicides;
- More…
Obesity diseases:
Being overweight and/or obese means that the individual has a significantly higher probability for any and all of the following:
- Atherosclerosis;
- Heart disease;
- Myocardial infarction;
- Stroke;
- Kidney failure;
- Liver disease;
- Diabetes;
- High blood pressure;
- High cholesterol;
- Arthritis;
- Gout;
- And about a thousand others;
How to reverse childhood obesity:
There is really very little mystery involved in the answer. The question is whether or not parents are going to step up and become accountable for the children that they brought into this world. Here is what must happen to return our children to acceptable states of health and vitality:
- Food has to be reevaluated and redefined. Food is the fuel for life. It should not be something that can be bought at a gas station and crammed down the throat while driving. Nutrition needs to be in the forefront of human thought. This is so because it is precisely a lack of nutrition that is killing the people of the planet by millions every year.
- Families need to preplan and cook meals at home. Baking, broiling, grilling, steaming, boiling, poaching and eating foods raw needs to replace frying, deep-frying and microwaving as utilized cooking methods.
- Children need to stop being allowed to have an input in their food intake selections – unless they are willing to actively learn about and get involved in nutritious meal planning.
- Children and adults alike need to step away from the computers, video gaming devices and televisions. We all need to be getting at least 22 minutes of semi-challenging physical activity every day that we live.
- People need to stop allowing themselves to be exposed to high stress levels. Stress is a choice – and a serial killer.
Child obesity, like adult obesity is a matter of choice in nearly 100% of cases. Very rarely indeed is obesity a factor of genetics. Turn your life around today and avoid a very tragic future.
